Open houses refined over years as a real estate sales tool - 2003-10-19
It was created in the late 1970s to jump-start a residential real estate market hit by a weak economy and double-digit fixed mortgage rates.

It proved its worth during the glory days of the mid-1980s, when it provided the most exposure - and the quickest turnover - for houses in both city and suburb.

Banks Form Loan Program to Assist Downtown Waterloo, Iowa, Firms - 2003-10-19
Five downtown banks have established a loan program in partnership with the city designed to attract business development downtown and on the city's north side.

Union Planters, US Bank, Community National, MidWestOne Bank and Trust and Wells Fargo have all agreed to provide the loans directly to business ventures in those target areas with interest rates based on the national prime rate floating, which sits at 4 percent today.
