Home equity lines of credit providing new financing option in Texas - 2003-11-24
This past September, Texas voters approved an amendment to the State Constitution that made a home an even better investment.

The law covering both loans and lines is also written so the homeowner can only have a total of up to 80 percent of the market value of his home (with existing liens) outstanding. So, if the market value of a home is $100,000, the maximum to be considered for a loan or line of credit is $80,000. If the homeowner owes $70,000 on the mortgage, he could borrow $10,000 under the terms of a home equity loan or line of credit.

Mortgage lender expanding in FW - 2003-11-24
Profiting on growth in its home-loan portfolio, California-based Countrywide Financial Corp., one of the country's biggest mortgage lenders, is expanding its Metroplex presence into North Fort Worth, with plans to employ as many as 2,000 there within the next five years.

Countrywide signed a short-term lease in August to take over a vacant, 387,000-square-foot building previously occupied by Motorola Inc. at 5401 N. Beach St. in the Fossil Creek Business Park.
