Fed: Dallas economy posting signs of improvement - 2003-11-29
The economy continued to pick up, albeit slowly, in the Dallas area during October and the first half of November, according to the Federal Reserve's latest Beige Book.

In the financial services sector, refinancings have stopped almost completely, according to lenders, while new mortgage sales continue. Commercial and industrial lending showed little change from the last survey, with increased traffic and interest, but still not a large uptick in activity.

Irondequoit residents will not be hit with tax increase - 2003-11-29
Residents will see no tax hikes in 2004 under the final budget okayed earlier this month by the Town Board.

According to the 2004 budget, nearly 50 percent of the town’s total operating budget is raised through the property tax levy. Other revenue sources include fees, sales and fines, investment income, sales tax, mortgage tax, cable television franchise fees and special assessments. The total levy for 2004 will be just over $13.4 million.
