Buyers enjoy low interest rates - 2003-11-29
When Muscatine resident Ben Beckey was born 23 years ago, financial experts said then Americans would never have mortgage interest rates fall below the double digits.

"People who thought they knew what the market was doing said we'd never see rates below 10 percent," said Bernie Stewart, vice-president of real estate at Central State Bank. But two weeks ago, Beckey closed on his first home with a mortgage interest rate of about 5.5 percent.
