Mortgage lender plans 500 new jobs - 2003-03-24
In a move reminiscent of the tech boom of the late 1990s, a company using the Internet is considering hiring about 500 more employees and leasing up to 95,000 additional square feet of suburban office space in west Broward County.

Unlike many of the firms from that boom-to-bust period, this company – ABN AMRO Bank's Mortgage Group – has already established itself as the fifth largest mortgage lender and the eighth largest loan servicer in the United States.

BofA vies top spot in mortgages - 2003-03-24
Bank of America Corp.'s top mortgage executive indicated that he wants the bank to be the nation's top mortgage issuer within two years, and the bank will spend almost $50 million on advertising toward that goal.

Getting there will require BoA to nearly triple its mortgage originations to reach the top echelon, and quadruple them to lead.
