Office, apartment values begin to drop - 2003-08-27
Office building and apartment values in the US decreased in the second quarter of this year, with lower rents and higher vacancies continuing to take a hit on commercial property owners.

Office building values declined 2.3 per cent from first-quarter levels and apartment values were down 1.1 per cent, according to a survey of 66,000 buildings in the top 50 markets prepared for The Wall Street Journal by Reis, a real estate research firm based in New York.

UK residential property market sees growing interest, rents rise - 2003-08-27
UK investors are going back to the residential property rental market with survey evidence in the three months to July looking at rises in supply and rents while demand held steady.

"Lettings activity showed a firm increase for the second quarter in a row. Ongoing uncertainty over the direction of the sales market and mortgage rates has boosted demand for rental property this year, while first-time-buyers priced out of the property market are also renting," RICS added.
