Mortgage growth steadier in January - 2003-08-27
Mortgage growth decreased slightly in January down from a record jump in December.

Figures from the Central bank show that residential mortgages expanded by €707m, down from the increase of €1.7bn the previous month.

On an annual basis, residential mortgage lending rose by 25.8% in January from a revised 25.5% in December.

Mortgage Endowment Disappointment - 2003-08-27
I took out a 23-year Abbey Life endowment* mortgage in June 1988 for £26,000, but sold the house in 1998 and maintained the policy as a savings plan. I finally received a compensation offer from Abbey Life - just £41.13.
