Area home prices have little chance of decline, study reveals - 2003-08-27
The St. Louis area has a 12.6 percent chance of seeing home prices drop in the next two years, according to statistics released by PMI Mortgage Insurance Co.

The figure ranks St. Louis as the 26th-highest among 50 metropolitan areas as of June, the company said.

Housing starts continue to increase, new data indicates - 2003-08-27
Despite some concerns about possible higher mortgage rates, housing starts in July were 1.5 percent above June numbers.

Single-family starts in July hit 1.521 million.
At the same time, permits for new residential units continue to rise.

The U.S. Department of Commerce says that building permits authorized hit a seasonally adjusted rate of 1.780 million in July.
