Freddie Mac, CANC to provide credit education - 2003-08-27
The Cuban American National Council and residential mortgage investor Freddie Mac have unveiled a consumer credit education initiative they said is created to prepare Miami's Hispanic communities for the financial responsibilities of higher education and homeownership.

Called CreditSmart Espanol, the partners said they will offer free, classes in Spanish will teach students and other members of the community about consumer credit and money management skills.

Property owners will get duplicate bills - 2003-08-27
Property owners will find an expected - if not highly anticipated - arrival in their mailboxes over the next few days. But for some, the sticker shock of their annual property tax bill will be twice the hit.

Some property owners who pay a portion of their anticipated tax bill to their mortgage company each month may not realize that the lender has already paid the bill. In those cases, property owners overpay by thousands of dollars, she said.
