California getting $91M in mortgage lending settlement - 2003-08-07
Eligible Californians will split $91 million as part of a $484 million predatory lending settlement between the 50 states and Prospect Heights, Ill.-based Household International and its subsidiaries.

The settlement between the states' attorneys generals and Household's Household Finance and Beneficial Finance units covers loans secured by real estate, such as a mortgage, and originated with Household or its two subsidiaries.

Eves gives homeowners mortgage tax break - 2003-08-07
Ontario's Premier Ernie Eves declared today that
giving people a break on their mortgage interest will translate to many people being able to afford a home for the first time in their lives.

"Ontarians work hard to provide for themselves and their families," said Eves. "Our mortgage interest deductibility plan will make home ownership
possible for some, and affordable for many."
