Quebec homeowners get easier access to home equity borrowing through CIBC - 2003-09-15
Cheap mortgage rates, increasing house prices and
forecasts of a more vibrant economy in 2004 are causing Quebec homeowners to look for ways to take advantage of the equity they have built up in their homes to make large purchases.

In response to this trend, effective September 8, 2003, CIBC introduced a new, convenient, cost-effective set-up service for its Home Equity Advantage line of credit and loan to Quebec residents.

New index reveals house prices up 14% - 2003-09-15
House prices in the UK have increased by 14.6% in the last year to July, based on a new government index.

The figures, released by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minster, are based on around a quarter of all properties bought with a mortgage each month.

The move follows calls from the Bank of England and the Treasury for an official monthly house price index, which it is hoped will provide a clearer picture of the market.
