Mortgage industry prepares for rate increases - 2003-09-29
Notwithstanding a reprieve in recent days, local mortgage lenders forsee the 11-week summer surge in interest rates to resume soon, and probably take jobs with it.

"This is big," said Bill Harrington, vice president at National City Mortgage in Dallas. Fixed, 30-year loan prices this summer rose more than any comparable period since 1984, he observed, severely depressing demand for home mortgage refinancings.

Shut down mortgage firm sued - 2003-09-29
A Southern California financial services vendor is the first company to file a lawsuit against Capitol Commerce Mortgage in the aftermath of the Sacramento mortgage company's spectacular implosion in August.

Poway-based First American CREDCO flied suit Sept. 11 in Sacramento County Superior Court, seeking more than $246,000 for the balance due on an open-book account for goods and services delivered.
