IFC might purchase bad loans of local comm’l banks - 2004-01-11
The International Finance Corp. is in talks with several domestic banks to explore the possible purchase of bad loans and bad assets under the Special Purpose Vehicles Act.

IFC, the World Bank’s investment arm, is already in the advance stages of negotiations for a landmark SPVA transaction with the National Home Mortgage Finance Corp (NHMFC).

Toledo, Ohio, Area Sees Strong Home, Commercial Lending Activity - 2004-01-11
Strong home and commercial lending activity was evident last year throughout counties surrounding Toledo. Wood, Fulton, and Ottawa counties in Ohio and Monroe County in Michigan all reported heavier mortgage activity than in the year before.

"We would like a little bit of a slowdown so we can catch our breath," said Sandra Barber, Fulton County recorder, whose office handled 13,034 filings last year, up nearly 13 percent from the previous year.
