Freeserve joins with The MarketPlace for mortgages - 2004-01-16
The MarketPlace at Bradford & Bingley has joined with Freeserve to offer a mortgage, personal loan and credit-card broking service.

The service, provided by The MarketPlace, is now available to all users visiting the Freeserve site. It will be dual-branded, and takes the form of a fully integrated mortgage, loan and credit card service on Freeserve's Money channel.

2 face possibility of losing licenses for equity stripping - 2004-01-16
Two men and their companies accused in equity-stripping schemes were dealt with Minnesota Commerce Department orders Thursday that suspend their licenses and set license-revocation hearings.

Equity stripping usually targets people whose homes are in foreclosure and who have substantial equity in them. The equity stripper offers to buy the home, pay off the mortgage and let the occupants continue living there with an option to buy back the home, making payments to him.
