Reverse Mortgage: Banking on the house - 2004-01-18
"I think it's a wonderful concept if you need the money," said the 67-year-old Princiotta, who resides with his wife, Dolores, in Cedar Village, an adult community near Route 70 in Brick. "I'm not saying it's for everybody. It depends on the individual."

Reverse mortgages -- in which someone 62 or older trades home equity for cash in a loan that does not have to be paid off until they die or sell their house -- are still only a tiny part of the mortgage industry.

Spending probably to be stronger - 2004-01-18
Chelsea Gibbs has held a motorcycle license since 1997 and is a member of the Ebony Angels Motorcycle Club for two years. But she still hasn't purchased a motorcycle.

With the economy looking up, Gibbs said this could be the year she finally shells out the money for the Honda CBR sportbike (which start at $8,200) that she covets. But with a newly purchased house -- and a mortgage -- and friends who are either out of work or in jobs that pay less than they're used to, she's still cautious about taking the plunge
