Banks not allowed to offer reduced interest for part of mortgage period - 2004-01-19
Supervisor of Banks Yoav Lehman today released revisions of the Proper Conduct of Banking Business Regulation for mortgages. The most important revision, which will be implemented in April 2004, prevents mortgage banks to grant mortgages with interest rate discounts for part of the mortgage period.

Lehman ruled that banks wishing to grant discounts to customers would have to do so for the entire period of the mortgage.

State should not shelter those who prey on elderly, financially illiterate - 2004-01-19
The issue is more simpler than some people would have you believe. Lending practices that almost never help consumers should be deemed illegal in Tennessee.

The bill also would prohibit a lender from replacing a low-interest subsidized loan for the poor with a high-cost mortgage.
