Finnish mortgages jumped by 15.2% in November 2003 - 2004-01-02
The Finnish central bank, Bank of Finland, has disclosed that Finnish financial institutions' mortgage portfolio jumped by 15.2% to EUR35.7bn in November 2003, compared to November 2002.

The increase from October 2003 was EUR386m, according to the central bank. The average mortgage rate decreased to 3.57% from 3.60%, reported the Finnish online news service NewsRoom Finland.

UK house growth expected in single digits - 2004-01-02
UK house price forecasters are expecting single-digit increases this year after correctly predicting the slowdown in the market in 2003, the Financial Times reported citing a number of banks and mortgage lenders.

A year ago Halifax and Nationwide Building Society were predicting house prices would rise by about 10pc in 2003.
