Mortgage firms concerned for restrictions - 2004-01-20
Top Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac executives warned lawmakers Monday against strongly restricting new mortgage products, saying such curbs could set back efforts to grow home ownership.

Lawmakers are considering a regulatory overhaul for the government-sponsored mortgage finance enterprises in 2004 after an accounting scandal at Freddie Mac rattled investors last year.

Mortgage firm to generate 400 jobs in NI - 2004-01-20
UK group Homeloan Management intends to create 400 new jobs in Derry over the next three years.
The company, which processes mortgages on behalf of other financial groups, said today it would invest UK£9.5m in an administration and customer services centre in the city.

The move will provide a much needed boost to the local community after the Desmonds company closed its last remaining factory in Derry last month, putting 300 staff out of work.
