HUD wants zero-down mortgage loans - 2004-01-21
Some prospective homeowners may not need to ask their relatives for down payment money anymore thanks to Uncle Sam.

The Department of Housing and Urban Development is proposing a "zero down payment" mortgage guaranteed by the Federal Housing Administration, making it easier for cash-strapped home buyers to purchase their first homes.

Wachovia unit appoints real estate exec - 2004-01-21
Wachovia Securities has appointed Leslie Fairbanks head of a newly formed real estate services group.
She will manage commercial mortgage servicing and tax-credit investment operations.

Fairbanks, who assumes the new role next week, has been a managing director in Wachovia's structured-finance group.
