Apartment vacancy rates higher - 2004-01-22
Vacancy rates jumped to an average of 7.2 percent at larger, mid-to high-priced apartment complexes here in December, having landlords to continue offering free rent and other incentives.

Industry analysts also attribute the softer rental market to continuing construction of new high-end apartments, as well as low mortgage rates and lending rule changes that have allowed many renters to buy houses.

Charter establish residential lending office in Hobbs - 2004-01-22
Charter Mortgage Company has established its first residential mortgage office in Hobbs, N.M., in the Broadmoor Tower at 1601 N. Turner.

The Albuquerque-based financial company appointed Hobbs native Brenda Bryant as the office's loan originator. Bryant's 15 years of experience in banking and finance includes loans she previously brokered through the Charter companies in the state.
