Mortgage program gets shot in the arm - 2004-01-22
Hibernia National Bank has gotten an additional $7.5 billion from Fannie Mae for its affordable mortgage lending program.

The lenders announced the continuation of the program at the home of Capt. Gary Harris of the East Baton Rouge Parish Fire Department. He recently bought his home through the program.

Freddie Mac board blamed for errors - 2004-01-22
Freddie Mac's board of directors is partially to blame for accounting errors that last year prompted a $5 billion restatement of earnings.

Freddie Mac, the second-largest source of U.S. home mortgage financing, last month agreed to pay a $125 million fine after the housing agency's investigation determined that the company manipulated earnings from 2000 until 2002.
