Lower mortgage loan activity hurts Bank of Ky. 4Q - 2004-01-23
Bank of Kentucky Financial Corp.'s fourth-quarter 2003 net income dropped 10 percent as higher interest rates slowed mortgage loan activity and the bank incurred higher expenses.

Bank of Kentucky reported a fourth-quarter profit of $2.1 million, or 35 cents per share. That's down from year-ago results of $2.3 million, or 37 cents per share.

Some facing retirement worry about having too much income - 2004-01-23
Q: Within five years our mortgage will be paid off, our youngest will graduate from high school, and my wife and I will each be 62.

Shortly after I retire, we will lose our major deductions -- children, mortgage and high dependent medical expenses. As a result, our taxable income will be substantially higher after retirement than it is now.
