Strong full year seen at Northern Rock Mortgage Bank - 2004-01-24
Mortgage bank Northern Rock is expected to post strong profit growth when it reports full-year results on Wednesday amid strong demand for home loans.

Northern Rock, the first of Britain's banks to report for 2003, is expected to post a 15.6 percent rise in pre-tax profit to 377.1 million pounds, according to a Reuters poll. Investors will also focus on the bank's profit margin and its comments on the mortgage market, analysts said.

State median home price hits $335,000 - 2004-01-24
Sales of residential homes in California jumped in December, driving the statewide median price of houses and condos to $335,000, a record, an analyst indicated Friday.

The typical mortgage payment that home buyers committed themselves to paying last month was $1,497, up from $1,293 for December 2002.
In Southern California, sales in the counties of San Bernardino and Riverside hit record highs last month.
