Ohio gives warning to 14 mortgage broker firms - 2004-01-24
The Ohio Department of Commerce's Division of Financial Institutions wants to take away the registration of five Ohio mortgage broker companies and prevent the renewal applications of nine others.

Three Akron-area companies were named Thursday: Alta Financial Corporation of Ohio, Pacific Capital Mortgage and Financial Savers Association.

Bad loans, economy drag down Old National - 2004-01-24
Problem loans and persistent weakness in the economy contributed to a drop in earnings for Old National Bancorp for the quarter ending Dec. 31.

Its financial services, which operates under the Signature Group umbrella, helped earnings this quarter, and it has reorganized its mortgage business to better position itself in the mortgage origination market.
