Mortgage firm hailed by USDA - 2004-01-24
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Development office in Princeton recently highlighted McKissick Mortgage of Hopkinsville for its performance in the 2003 Guaranteed Rural Housing Program.

According to a news release from the federal agency, McKissick had the highest percent of increase in loan production for the program and involved competition in the 25-county western Kentucky area served by the Princeton office.

Former title agent going to jail for taking $180,000 - 2004-01-24
A former title agent working for a Somerville company was sentenced yesterday to three years in prison for wrongfully taking nearly $180,000.

Tariq, a Pakistani native who immigrated to the United States in 1972, used his position as a principal agent with Wilson Title Agency Inc. to take out a second mortgage on a Woodbridge home in 1996, authorities said.

He hadn't been given permission to take out that second mortgage and took the money from the transaction -- $180,000 -- for his own use.
