Arizona has weathered the recession better than most states. With about 1 percent annual job growth, the state is ranked fifth nationally, thanks to the health care industry, which added about 1,000 jobs a month statewide last year, and a construction boom buoyed by low mortgage rates for home buyers, Wehbey said.
