Thousands of people could be passing up the opportunity to make huge savings on their mortgages because they simply don't understand what "re-mortgaging" means.

Researchers for the Nationwide Building Society discovered that a third of the people they interviewed believed that re-mortgaging would necessitate them taking on more debt.
