Mortgage assistance program is a hit first month - 2004-01-03
A new state program that provides mortgage assistance to teachers, firefighters and police officers has okayed or is reviewing applications for $2.5 million in home loans in its first month.

Antonio Riley, secretary of the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority, which administers the program, said amount shows the program is needed to help teachers, firefighters and police officers.
