Few S.D. seniors access reverse mortgages - 2004-01-03
Very few senior citizens in South Dakota have tapped into reverse mortgages, a trend that could change, according to some bankers.

Reverse mortgages are loans against a home that the owners do not have to pay back as long as they live in the house. However, the loans aren’t as popular among seniors living in Mitchell compared to other real estate markets.

Home permits destroys 25-year record - 2004-01-03
Mitchell broked a 25-year high for the number of building permits issued in 2003 for single family homes.

According to bankers, contractors and city officials, the high number of home permits was due to an increase in the number of residential developments, an increase in population and record low mortgage rates.
