New home sales over 1 million mark in 2003 - 2004-01-31
Sales of new single-family homes went over the 1 million mark in 2003, with nearly half coming from the South region alone.

The sales pace has been excellent throughout the last six months, primarily fueled by low mortgage rates and strong house price performance, and the market fundamentals are in place for this pace to continue into early 2004.

City no longer lead in affordable housing - 2004-01-31
The city has lost the dubious distinction of being placed the No. 1 community in the state for its quantity of low- to moderate-income housing, falling behind Newport in a new inventory by the Rhode Island Housing and Mortgage Finance Corporation, officials said.

The shift reflects the loss of 166 units of low- to moderate-income housing since RIHMFC last conducted an inventory of state housing in August 2002.
