Property owners upset over appraisals - 2004-01-04
Caughlin Ranch residents might be next on the agenda to join a property tax revolt started by Incline Village homeowners.

Larry Winkler and his wife, Jeannie Cassinelli, whose property assessments increased 67 percent this year, said they intend to send a message on how to appeal Washoe County’s assessed property values.

“It’s getting to the point where you have a second mortgage on your house for life -- your tax bill,” Winkler said. “What needs to happen is the tax law has to change.”

Family finds a house in Waterloo - 2004-01-04
In May 1999, Time and Donna Henderson went on a bus in Chicago, set for a new life in Waterloo --- three of their seven kids, nine bags and hopes for a better life in tow.

Today the Hendersons are under one roof --- and it's their own. They've gone from homeless to house proud, from paying rent to paying a mortgage. They've rid themselves of bad habits and poor credit. Time no longer wakes up broke or hung over.
