Deal with debt in the new year - 2004-01-07
A couple of months ago, I wrote that I had enough of all the holiday finger-wagging about thrift and thought people should just indulge themselves.

If you have a big debt that's going to take many months to pay, consider shifting to a new card that offers a low rate on balance transfers. But don't do this unless you really have to, as the transfer will show up on your credit report. If you look like a person who puts off paying the bills, it could hurt your chances of getting a mortgage or other loan.

Housing prices may start to drop in 2004 - 2004-01-07
THE good times could be coming to an end for property prices in Redbridge, based on a report by the mortgage lender Nationwide.

House prices rose nationally by 15.6 per cent in 2003, but growth in Ilford was 12 per cent, and Woodford Green saw a rise of only seven per cent.

In its predictions for 2004 the building society puts Redbridge among the 20 regions most vulnerable to property price falls.
