Slow apartment market shows little signs of revival - 2004-01-09
Even with a new generation of tenants waiting in the wings, it will need a lot of new jobs to pull the Nashville area's stagnant apartment market out of the doldrums.

More potential tenants may be finding jobs, she continued, and the demand for homeownership — fueled largely by falling mortgage rates — may be abating. December unemployment data for Nashville hasn't been released.

YOUNG PRICED OUT OF HOUSING MARKET - 2004-01-09
The dream of owning your first house is becoming more of a dream than reality for young people.
A survey by Halifax shows house prices in Notts rose by 18% last year - higher than the national average.

Figures from the Council of Mortgage Lenders saw a record low in the number of first-time buyers last year, 330,540 - a fall of nearly 200,000 on 2002.
Although there are no local figures, one city centre mortgage said they were dealing with fewer first-time buyers at the moment.
