Service puts Magic into mortgage lending - 2004-01-09
ServiceMagic has included a lender referral service to its online marketplace of real estate salespeople and home improvement contractors. The new lender service links home loan borrowers to prescreened lenders and mortgage brokers who pay a fee to participate in the program.

"(ServiceMagic Lending) is a marketplace that operates very similar to our original home services segment and our real estate segment that we launched a year and a half ago. "

Amico's broker sent to prison - 2004-01-09
A principal player in a mortgage-fraud scheme that cheated lenders of $60 million apologized to victims and his family today as he was sent to prison.

“I accept full responsibility in this,” former mortgage broker Patrick J. McNamara said before U.S. District Judge Michael A. Telesca ordered him to spent 57 months behind bars and pay $14.7 million in restitution.
