Mortgage endowment mis-selling scandal is ‘vastly underestimated’ - 2004-02-01
The scale of mortgage endowment mis-selling problem has been vastly underestimated, parliamentary watchdogs at the Treasury Select Committee were told last week.

According to figures given to the committee by the chief city watchdogs, the Financial Services Authority, around 3.5 million home owners will be unable to repay their mortgages on maturity.

Mortgage scam feeds off forgery - 2004-02-01
A few months ago, real estate manager Steve Jackson got a disturbing phone call about a tenant who had signed papers to lease a home from him.

Cox, according to a business associate, was the mastermind behind a scheme in Tampa to use a series of phony names to purchase 21 properties and obtain mortgage loans totaling more than $2.7-million.
