SEC could investigate Metropolitan - 2004-02-11
Federal and state regulators have asked for an independent examination of Metropolitan Mortgage & Securities Co. to see if the company has defrauded thousands of investors.

The request from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the state attorney general's office was filed Monday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Spokane.

U.S. mortgage rates same Wednesday - 2004-02-11
The average rate on a 30-year U.S. mortgage with no upfront points was the same on Wednesday, leaving the 30-year rate at 5-7/8 percent, according to BestInfo, Inc.

If the market on Thursday continues in its current direction, rates may fall. The 30-year mortgage rate with one upfront point was unchanged at 5-5/8 percent.
