Housing agency union asks GMA to drop EO - 2004-02-11
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is being called on to repeal an order transferring the National Home Mortgage and Finance Corp.'s socialized and low-cost housing financing program to a newly created subsidiary.

Employees of the NHMFC insisted that Executive Order 272, creating the Social Housing Finance Corp. to undertake the Community Mortgage Program and the Abot-Kaya Pabahay Fund Program, has violated laws.

Index-linked mortgage rate continues to drop - 2004-02-11
The index-linked mortgage interest rate continues to drop, helped by the Bank of Israel interest rate cuts and ongoing crisis in residential construction.

Internal figures obtained by "Globes" today indicate that the average index-linked mortgage interest rate fell another 0.07% to 5.19% in mid-February. The rate has fallen by 0.14% since the beginning of 2004. The current rate is the lowest in 22 months, since March 2002.
