MISMO eMortgage Workgroup Launches SMART Document Implementation Guide Version 1.0 - 2004-02-02
The Mortgage Industry Standards Maintenance Organization (MISMO) eMortgage Workgroup revealed today that it has launched Version 1.0 of the SMART Document Implementation Guide to assist the industry in the development and implementation of SMART doc technology in its e-mortgage processes.

The product of more than a year of work by the volunteer participants of the eMortgage Workgroup, the SMART Doc I-Guide provides more than 30 chapters of technical guidance on virtually all aspects of the SMART doc specification.

MBA Happy that HUD's Budget Includes Programs to Help Increase Homeownership and Affordable Housing - 2004-02-02
The Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) is happy that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD's) proposed fiscal year 2005 budget incorporates important programs that will help increase homeownership and affordable rental housing.

"The greatest hurdle a first-time homebuyer faces is the down payment," said Robert M. Couch, CMB, MBA chairman. "We are very pleased that the administration's budget includes two no-down-payment products that will overcome this barrier."
