Housing prices continue to increase amid robust sales - 2004-02-20
Robust demand and low mortgage interest rates continued to boost home sales in January, pushing the median housing price in California up 19.4 percent over the same period a year ago.

Sales were the strongest since DataQuick Information Systems began keeping records in 1988. A total of 39,750 new and resale homes and condos were sold statewide in January, an increase of 0.6 percent from January last year.

Mortgage and general insurance - transitional provisions for consumer complaints - 2004-02-20
Following public consultation, consumer complaints in relation to firms handled by the Mortgage Code Compliance Board (MCCB) and General Insurance Standards Council (GISC) will be transitioned to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS).

At present complaints about products bought from firms covered by the MCCB and GISC are dealt with through independent arrangements set up by those bodies.
