Sheriff to delay 559 mortgage foreclosure sales - 2004-02-27
Philadelphia Sheriff John D. Green intends to announce today that he will delay the March 2 sale of 559 homes whose owners have not been able to keep up on their mortgage payments.

"Property ownership is important for the stability of lives and families," Green said, blaming insufficient housing for communities' declining as people lose their homes and houses become vacant.

Mortgage Giant Freddie Mac: When Will Earns Be Released? - 2004-02-27
Embattled No. 2 U.S. mortgage finance company Freddie Mac on Friday indicated it still hopes to report 2003 earnings by July in an attempt to bring its books up to date after an accounting scandal, but offered no guarantees.

The McLean, Virginia-based government-sponsored enterprise said in its 2002 annual report issued on Friday that it would try to return to timely financial reporting as soon as possible, but could not commit to a timetable.
