US mortgage-backed bond prices stronger - 2004-02-27
U.S. mortgage-backed securities prices were unchanged to slightly stronger on Friday while spreads were barely changed from Thursday.

"We are roughly unchanged on the day. It is fairly quiet," said a trader with a Northeast fund management firm.

Among premium 30-year mortgage bonds, prices were unchanged to 1/32 firmer, with bond equivalent yields ranging from 3.833 percent to 5.432 percent.

Mortgage growth tapers off in January - 2004-02-27
Mortgage growth tapered off in January, indicating that demand for property may be beginning to abade.

Residential mortgages expanded by E707m, the Central Bank said today, down from a record E1.7bn increase in December. On a year-on-year basis, residential mortgage lending rose by 25.8pc in January from a revised 25.5pc in December.
