Single-family home prices at record high and still going - 2004-02-04
Strong demand and falling supply pushed the median price for an O'ahu house to $400,000 last month, a record that industry experts expect will be broken again and again this year.

"If you take into account the median household income for a four-person family, the median home price and the 30-year mortgage rate for (past years), houses in Hawai'i are more affordable now than ever," he said.

County home sales set record year - 2004-02-04
Helped by low mortgage interest rates, Douglas County home sales jumped to a new high in 2003.

And for the first time, the number of homes sold in Douglas County topped 2,000, according to a new report from the county appraiser's office.

The 2,065 sales in 2003 was 9 percent higher than the previous record of 1,888, set in 2001. And it was up 13 percent from the 2002 tally.
