Two Apartment Developments Set for Fayetteville, N.C., Area - 2004-02-05
Developers are intends to develop apartments in Spring Lake and Hoke County. A three-bedroom apartment would rent for about $900 a month, Yasmine said. At those prices, Yasmine's apartments will compete with monthly mortgage payments for houses.

He said he expects Village on the Lake to attract soldiers who are stationed at Fort Bragg for a couple of years at most. That is not long enough for them to buy a house and come out ahead of renting.

Douglas County, Kan., Home Sales Establish Record in 2003 - 2004-02-05
Helped by low mortgage interest rates, Douglas County home sales surged to a new high in 2003.

And for the first time, the number of homes sold in Douglas County topped 2,000, according to a new report from the county appraiser's office.

The 2,065 sales in 2003 were 9 percent higher than the previous record of 1,888, set in 2001. And it was up 13 percent from the 2002 tally.
