Plan assists buyers, fixup of foreclosed homes - 2004-02-07
A $25 million program to assist low- and moderate-income consumers acquire and fix up foreclosed homes in Shelby County got its christening Friday.

The money will come from Freddie Mac, the U.S. government-sponsored enterprise that deals in mortgage financing, under its Catch the Dream program.

Reality 'decorating' shows bypass the process, planning - 2004-02-07
I just turned off the ol' telly after watching a couple of reality do-it-yourselfer programs. Right from the start, I have to admit that I find myself watching some of these shows. But what really hit me this time is - are we really learning anything?

I don't know about you, but I cry enough every month when I write out my mortgage check.

Now, I know that you're saying: "Hey, wait a minute, pal, don't you have one of those shows on HGTV?"
