Strong year for home production in Riverside County - 2004-02-08
Helped by strong consumer demand and record-low mortgage interest rates, local homebuilders ramped up production last year to its highest level since 1988, dotting previously barren flatland and hillside with a sea of new rooftops.

However, the sound of earth movers reshaping the Riverside County landscape to make room for new neighborhoods and construction workers using their tools of trade to put up new homes paled in terms of what's wanted, industry representatives said.
