Home purchasing has more twists for doctors - 2004-03-01
A physician who wants to purchase a home has much more to consider than price and location.

The high threat of lawsuits that many physicians face makes it necessary for them to pay close attention to titling and how they hold the home to keep it off-limits in litigation. These extra considerations plus the usual headaches of home buying -- getting the right lender, mortgage loan and more -- can be overwhelming and make the process feel like a full-time job.

Westpac sounds reassuring note - 2004-03-01
Westpac chief executive David Morgan has summarized the bank's performance as "sound", despite additional signs of a drop-off in mortgage activity.

Dr Morgan said the bank was "broadly comfortable" with market estimates of full-year earnings. Westpac is due to announce its half-year profit in May.

"On the mortgage side, we have continued to grow a little bit below the market in Australia," he said.
