Housing more expensive than ever - 2004-03-12
The average mortgage is now grabbing more than 30 per cent of household incomes, with the Reserve Bank's two interest rate hikes and soaring house prices combining to make housing more expensive than it has ever been.

The Housing Industry Association said yesterday housing affordability - the ability of households to service mortgages - had slumped to another record low in the December quarter.

Mortgage delinquencies drop in Jersey - 2004-03-12
In an indication of improving financial health, less New Jersey families found themselves behind in their mortgage payments during the fourth quarter of 2003.

An estimated 4.5 percent of Garden State homeowners -- about 50,718 households -- were at least 30 days late with their payments at the end of last year.
