Q&A: Long-term mortgage review - 2004-03-12
An highly anticipated review into whether UK homeowners should be encouraged to take out longer-term mortgages has been published by the Treasury.

In the 2003 Budget, the chancellor announced a review into long-term fixed-rate mortgages and why they are not as popular in Britain, as they are in the US and Europe.

Program offers home buyers mortgage help - 2004-03-12
Prospective home buyers dealing with credit or savings barriers now can join a regional lease-purchase housing program tailored to Oakley's needs.

The down payments and closing costs are financed by the program. A nonprofit governmental agency called the California Regional Mortgage Assistance Corp. buys the home by taking on the mortgage until the 39-month lease period is over and the client exercises the purchase option by assuming the existing mortgage.
