Dates set for mortgage foreclosure investigation meetings - 2004-03-13
A state Banking Department task force investigating Monroe County's high foreclosure rate has arranged meetings next weekend for local homebuyers who have gone into foreclosure during the last four years.

Officials want to hear personal stories of how and why homebuyers went into foreclosure and to make copies of personal documents, such as HUD1 settlement disclosure forms required at mortgage closings.

Banks act to protect mortgage borrowers - 2004-03-13
Mortgage brokers are under scrutiny to ensure they don't abuse their positions by unethically padding their income as the housing market boom cools.

The Mortgage Brokers Association (MBA) has asked banks to use their backroom systems to identify brokers "churning" - moving clients between banks to ramp up commissions.
