Average wage earners can't afford home - 2004-03-14
The most healthy housing market in the country -- Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast -- is leaving teachers, firefighters and a host of other workers out in the cold as family income lags woefully behind runaway home prices.

Affordable housing, according to county and federal guidelines, means a family pays no more than 30 percent of its income for the mortgage, property taxes, insurance and utilities.

Homeowner program attracts small crowd - 2004-03-14
Cold but sunny weather. Cheap interest rates. Lots of of promotion, advertising and even a direct mailing to more than 1,800 renters.

A total of 20 adults passed through the doors during the three-hour fair, visiting with Realtors, bankers, mortgage company representatives and others on hand to answer their questions.
